Before starting my career, I invested six years of higher education studying psychology to become a clinical psychologist and college professor. I thought I had it planned and focused on making that goal a reality. In life one often travels on unknown roads to destinations, never intended. What started as a summer back on the family farm turned into a thirty-five-year career in agriculture. I crossed the supply-chain of food production, processing, trading, merchandising, price and production risk management, finance, and technology. I participated in entrepreneurial start-ups, cooperative organizations, and large global agribusiness corporations. This vast experience has allowed me to learn about the business world and the resulting relationships that I found rewarding.
I have come to crossroads on this journey and have decided to take a somewhat different career path.
It is time for me to "give back" or "pay it forward," by sharing my strengths, gifts, and experience to work towards making this world a better place. I have traveled through my career with many amazing men and women who shared their journeys with me, which has been immensely rewarding. I have shared incredible accomplishments and experienced the painful challenges resulting from working in the corporate world.
After years of informal coaching with team members, direct reports, and clients, I have undergone formal coaching training to become a Life Coach. With this notice, I announce the launch of my new business, Empowerment Coaching LLC. I will focus on coaching men challenged with life transitions.
Why am I focusing on working with men? In today's fast-paced world, being a man is confusing, stressful, and sometimes overwhelming. The pressures of being a high achiever, financially successful, balancing personal and family relationships, and dealing with difficult life transitions are just some of the issues we are not always prepared to handle. Many of the problems that men face go unaddressed because it is uncomfortable or challenging to find the right person who is trustworthy and can help. I offer a safe and confidential place where men can address their personal and professional issues conveniently.
